Simple Butter Soy Steak

Ingredients
1 piece (300g, 1.5–2cm thick) Steak (sirloin/ribeye)
½ tsp Salt to taste
1 tsp Black pepper
2 tbsp Butter (divided)
2 cloves of Garlic
2 tbsp Feng He Garden First Extract Soy sauce
½ tsp Fresh Lemon juice
Method
1. Prep steak (5 mins)
- Remove the steak from the fridge 30-60 minutes in advance.
- Pat dry with paper towels (crucial for sear).
- Season both sides with ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp black pepper.
2. Sear steak (3-4 mins)
- Heat a skillet over maximum heat until smoking hot (≈approximately 2 minutes).
- Add 1 tbsp butter – swirl to coat pan.
- Immediately add steak:
- Medium-rare: 1 min per side
- Medium: 2 mins first side → flip → 1 min second side
- No pressing! Flip only once.
3. Rest the steak (5 mins)
- Transfer the steak to the plate.
- Rub the surface with sliced garlic for aroma.
4. Make sauce (2 mins)
- Keep the skillet on medium heat (no extra oil or butter yet—use the existing residue).
- Add 1 tbsp butter and 1 tsp minced garlic.
- Sauté 30 sec until fragrant (⚠️ don’t burn garlic!).
- Pour in soy sauce and lemon juice.
- Simmer 1 min until glossy. Stir in remaining ½ tsp black pepper.
5. Serve
- Drizzle hot sauce over the steak.
